Artist description
Somewhere, in an apartment, in a complex, lives a quiet man whose songwriting output rivals, and even surpasses, that of Flunk Browneye. His musical style falls somewhere in the uncharted void between Prince and They Might Be Giants. In another city lives a man who belongs to nearly every band on the SNSE label whose style is akin to Flaming Lips filtered through Macy Grey. Yet another man lives in sunny california. His Rock Solid drumming (reminiscent of John Bonham) is only rivaled by his songwriting abilities. Any one of these men could have made an album by themselves, but through the manipulations of RTA they were drawn together. You'll sing along, and you'll wonder why. |

Artist History
Rich T. Anderson, Darrin Doyle, and Joel Beidryzcki first played together in a living room on Lockwood St. Rich and Darrin had known each other since infancy. Rich and Joel met at Central High. They eventually played at Grand Rapids' Festival of the Arts in June of 1989 under the monicker of Exit. Over the years they made recordings on cassette 4-track. In 1992 RTA took the best of these recordings and compiled the tape "Dig Us Out Quick" Somewhere a couple people have copies of this nearly unnoticed gem. Once at GVSU RTA gained access to the studio there and began work on what became known as Why Drink Bread? As usual Joel and Darrin were on hand (if not together for every song). In addition Mark Rehl played some keys. Roy Wallace and Dave Moroney of Mission Orange added strings to a track. And Scott Jones blew his Sax for another. Pat Yankee noting the "evil genius" of Dig Us out Quick was eager to put Why Drink Bread on his SNSE label. Since the albums completion more recordings have been made sans Joel who moved to California in 1997. Zack Roth contributed drums to some of these songs which may appear on a future release under new name. For now one of these tracks can be found on the credits of the RTA movie "Spiral Bound". |
