    Artist History
It was 110 degrees, late August, Augusta, Georgia, when I decided to become a musician. My parents thought it would be a good idea for me to work with my Grandfather one summer. So there I was in the card room of the Enterprise cotton mill, dreaming of a career in music. I had learned to play the guitar a year or so before and would go home every night after work and practice. It was an easy decision. All I knew at the time was that I might be working in a cotton mill the rest of my life. I became determined not to let this be my fate. So I bought the book of “Bob Dylan’s Complete Works” and a harmonica and the future took root. That was the summer of 1966, I haven’t seen the inside of a cotton mill since. Instead, I traveled all over the United States performing my own songs, and many others too. I met a lot of great people - even some famous ones. Taught music appreciation, theory and application to any one who would listen, sang in church more than once. Sought out and performed as many different types of music as there are in as many different kinds of places as there are. Loved it, hated it, lived it. My heroes were all hobos; Carl Sandburg, Woody Guthrie, Harry Partch... I guess you could say I got the traveling bug naturally, I am an Army Brat. I like to think of myself as a wandering minstrel in the folk/blues tradition, poet/musician and ex-cotton mill worker. In 1982 I came off the road and settled down in Hope Mills, North Carolina. I have performed all over the state, at clubs, festivals, coffee houses and many special events. I am grateful to the people of North Carolina for accepting and supporting me. I feel lucky to have been allowed to live the past thirty-three years with passion and to have life reward me with challenges.Frank Hardwick, soloist, singer/songwriter, poet, bass player/lead singer of the Bow Street Runners, passed away on Tuesday, 8 January 2002, apparently from complications due to pneumonia. All are saddened by his death and will greatly miss his wit, friendship and leadership.
