    Artist description
Minneapolis, Minnesota’s own The Trouble with Stereo has been around in one form or another since the summer of 1997. Formed from the ashes of the now defunct The Wrath of the Left Hand of Burns, The Trouble with Stereo combines an intelligent mix of heavy guitars and metal riffs with melody and pure pop sensibility. The band strives to be successful while still retaining credibility in the independent music world. After The Wrath of the Left Hand of Burns fell apart, vocalist Cameron Hager, guitarist Derek Sandbeck, and drummer Jeremiah Talamantes were ready to take their previous work in a new direction. Bassist Lukas Dickie was quickly recruited from the pop-punk outfit Laundry 518 and after much deliberation, the band decided on the name The Trouble with Stereo, a play on words from the 1955 Alfred Hitchcock film, The Trouble with Harry. In May of 2001, the boys recorded a 3-song demo EP purely for promotional purposes with unexpected results. The songs have sparked interest with labels and various mp3 based radio stations throughout the country. While still a relatively young band, the guys hope to continue to play shows, sell records, and take over the country, state by state. With influences as diverse as Quicksand, The Police, Alkaline Trio, Kid Dynamite, Elvis Costello, Face to Face, and Jawbreaker, The Trouble with Stereo continues its quest to win over audiences with it’s dynamic blend of metal and melody. Sandbeck on the music they make: “It’s nerdcore, plain and simple!”. Too heavy to be rock, not heavy enough to be metal, the band defies definition and purposely so. “I don’t want to limit ourselves to one style of music. I grow everyday with my tastes in music, literature, etc. and I want my band to do the same”, Sandbeck admits. “We all come from different backgrounds, musically, socially, or whatever and that has been more of a blessing than a hindrance to the music we create” , Says Hager whose lyrics range from issues like racism and prejudice to soured relationships to just plain looking on the bright side of things. Aside from the band, the members are all amassed in other endeavors as well. Talamantes works in the Internet security industry, Sandbeck is currently studying journalism, Dickie owns his own Web Design/Hosting Company, and Hager is studying acting diligently.
