In early 2001, former members of the defunct Mankato, MN based melodic punk
outfit The Wrath of the Left Hand of Burns decided that they had not nearly
had their respective fills of the rock. Drummer Jeremiah Talamantes,
Guitarist Derek Sandbeck, and Vocalist Cameron Hager made a conscious
decision to carry on in a completely different musical direction than their
previous band had afforded them the ability to do so. In May of 2001 the
trio laid down tracks with Derek playing guitar as well as bass for a 3 song
demo that received immediate response from peers and "Wrath" fans alike. A
month later and with the edition of Lukas Dickie from the pop punk quintet
Laundry 518 on bass, the lineup was complete for what was to become the
Unholy Super-Creature that is The Trouble with Stereo.
Uncomfortable with labels, the band shrugs their musical style off as
"nerdcore"; An emotionally charged blend of metal, rock, punk, and hardcore
delivered with unrivaled intensity, style and choreographed rockstar booty
shakes. The Trouble with Stereo strives to bring something new and original
to the rock world and with influences as diverse as Elvis Costello,
Quicksand, Jawbreaker, the Descendents, Face to Face, and basically anything
metal circa 1980-89, its difficult to believe that the product of all those
factors wouldn't be some deformed mutant of a band but the boys pull it off
with the greatest of ease.
With a full length CD in the works and shows and exposure increasing, the
Trouble with Stereo continues its onslaught on the world and your house is
next. Stay tuned.
