The magical, fantastical music of Rob Chilcott, influenced and inspired by a variety of soundtrack and synth-based composers, has enchanted audiences around the world since the start of 1999. Artist History
Rob has been an artist on mp3.com since sometime early in 1999. His fantasy music is mainly solo work, constructed almost entirely on computer, and distributed solely by the wonder of the Internet, which has helped get his music in various student films (details of music distribution available, probably, on his website). He is a classically trained concert electronic organist at Grade 8, and he plays a bit of guitar, too -- so he slips the odd bit of live improvisation into his music. Rob has plenty of experience in computer generated music since mod tracking in the early 90s, through to MIDI work and the full audio/MIDI experience. In June 2000, he landed a job with Ethermoon Entertainment, writing the music score and sound fx for their first game, Strifeshadow, a multi-player Real Time Strategy game set for release at some point, some when (more info at www.ethermoon.com). He's naturally thrilled to bits, and since then has learned a great deal about sound design and voice acting, too. He aims to take his fascination with sound and music to new levels in the coming months... |

Press Reviews
Top mp3.com dude, Rod Underhill, said, "When I retire in a few years I want to go back to composing and this electronic film music looks fascinating to me. You're quite an inspiration." One maniac named Sonic (of Turtle Bend) suggested Rob might be "the next Danny Elfman." Check out his page here on mp3.com, under mp3.com/turtlebend. Charlie Sneller said, "Great music! Go #1!" on hearing The Unicorn, and Ernesto Cortazar liked the orchestration on Christmas with the Elves. Lots of fans offer kind words by email, words like "truly moving, beautiful and inspirational" -- and thus earn my eternal gratitude and respect. |
