Welcome
to the mp3.com home of Rob Chilcott, game music and multimedia composer.
Since March 1999, Rob has provided mp3.com fans with free fantasy music. Formerly
located here under the moniker Fantasy Musician, Rob now goes by his
real name to prove that this page offers more besides cinematic fantasy soundtracks.
With
extensive knowledge of sound design and game music, Rob is keen to provide
YOU with all your multimedia audio needs - he's worked on student films, web
page fx and music, shareware games and full commercial projects. His fees
range from free and upwards, so if you need music and like what you hear on
this page, what have you got to lose? Send Rob an email
to discuss your project.
Rob
hopes you'll enjoy the freely downloadable music on this page, and also hopes
you'll consider spending a few dollars on his CDs, exclusively for sale via
mp3.com - What The Dragon Heard, Music to Watch Unicorns By,
and When Fate Takes Your Hand. Buy all three for under $30, and you'll
be getting nearly three hours of top fantasy, cinematic music, that's over
50 tracks! Who'd miss out on such a bargain?

In
2000/2001, Rob provided the 45 minute soundtrack and designed a whole bunch
of sound fx for Ethermoon
Entertainment's debut PC product, Strifeshadow, a fantasy RTS game.
If you'd like to support Rob and check out the full OST on CD, you'll have
to buy the game (exclusively
available on-line at ebgames.com) - but a taster of the soundtrack can
be found in the downloads section of ethermoon.com,
or by downloading the new mp3.com exclusive out-take from the soundtrack,
the Sylvan battle theme, Tree Spirits, below.
Rob recently had the honour of becoming featured
musician on the outstanding fantasy culture website, Epilogue
- fantasy art, literature and music fans should definitely check this out!

Ethermoon
colleague and friend, Joel Steudler,
has remixed Rob's enduringly popular mini-symphony, The Unicorn. You'll
smile at the concert hall intro - then be wowed by the orchestral quality
- of the JVE Orchestra arrangement (November 01). Download it below!
Fans
of Rob's original soundtrack to Strifeshadow
will be eager to snap up a tune that didn't make it onto the OST, but fits
the tone nicely... the Sylvan battle theme, Tree Spirits (January 01),
also available below.

An mp3.com exclusive - a piece from the Strifeshadow score that didn't make it into the final OST. This one's a Sylvan battle theme. The Sylvans are good, wood-dwelling elves, but they fight with flair and ferocity, reflected in this powerful, esoteric woodwind score backed up with energetic tribal bangings. A very special arrangement, on a VERY expensive audio studio, of my popular mini-symphony, The Unicorn. For full details, see the description on the original version. Mucho thanks to my colleague and friend at Ethermoon Entertainment, Joel Steudler and His Amazingly Expensive Audio Gear, for this mix. Immense love go to mp3.com/nexuscore, and steudler1@home.com! |
Credits: Composed by Rob Chilcott, arranged, produced and additional orchestrations by J. Steudler (steudler1@home.com) |

The title gives this one away - for fans of Joel Steudler's outstanding arrangement of The Unicorn, also downloadable from this page, this is a great reworking of Homage to a Pirate Warrior. Best changes? Check out the surging brass, choirs, sea-faring ambient fx, and of course, Steudler's own inimitable little touches and amendments... |
