    Artist History
In western church architecture, the roodscreen corresponds to the iconostasis of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Unfortunately, reformation iconoclasts destroyed many of England's roodscreens. As an Orthodox Christian of British/Welsh heritage, the name ROODSCREEN represents my love for both Eastern Rite and Western Rite Orthodox Christianity. Another aspect of the name is the idea of approaching the Holy of Holies, the Throne of Grace, of standing at the gates of repentance crying "Kyrie Eleison!" This project began during Lent 2000 when I discovered John Mason Neale's "Hymns of the Eastern Church". This led to research of other interpretations of Orthodox Christian Hymns. The original vision called for more meditative, "New Age" type electronic music to accompany the texts, but when I started playing around on my guitar it turned into something VERY different. ROODSCREEN appeared online the eve of Cheesefare Sunday, 2001. Songs appear chronologically according to their correspondence with the Lenten calendar. Production has already begun on an arrangement of J.M. Neale's interpretation of the Nativity Canon.

    Press Reviews
All I have to say is - absolutely, utterly bizarre. I could never quite stand all of the Evangelical "Rock Music". The Roman Catholics started copying it. Now, Lord have mercy, the Orthodox are doing it too. I though that the Orthodox would be more resistant to assimilating every idiotic pop cultural element. --Ben A., Occidentalis e-group.
