Roodscreen began when I discovered English verse interpretations of Eastern Orthodox Christian hymns in Protestant hymnals. Furthur investigation led me to John Mason Neale and other Anglo-Catholics who loved the Eastern Church and her music. During Lent of 2001 I decided to record Lenten and Paschal hymns with the Western tunes ascribed to them, or to compose original music when no tune existed. Then, something strange happened, during recording my roots in garage alternative music came out.
Obviously, this music is not meant for liturgical use, but rather for devotional use and just plain enjoyment.
