    Press Reviews
Review of live performance on February 3, 2001 ECKANKORE at THE SMELL - Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA Films broadcast across one screen - the gutting and jutting of fish - as the suitcases open and the polyphonic rapture descends. Much high-end, warbling and migrating from one speaker to the next . Zoom goes the low end and patterns seem to pool around the dregs of each eddying wave. Knobs are turned and another she-demon is freed, accompanied by the essence of pantshaking bass. The delay races and stumbles over itself, racked by hands ripped through the gravel. It is sincerely surprising how much sound can emerge from such little things. But how are those little things aware of what's being done to them - Superman and machine? The extended tone spins, a coin on edge, a diamond in the very very rough. - David Cotner, Hertz-lion.com Mediocre review of Eckankore CD in "Vital Weekly" ECKANKORE - A BRIEF ACCOUNT OF NONISSUES (CDR) I must say I have never heard of Eckankore and find it hard to see why a bunch of live recordings from 1997 and 1998 should be made available on CDR now. Eckankore are one E.J. Nervo and Ron K. who offer here six lenghty cuts of noise, all recorded live in a concert situation or in the rehearsal room. Slowly moving pieces of metalic sounds, distorted guitars and interceptions from the radio. As much as I like to something positive about this thing, it's nothing I haven't heard before and better. Mildly decent noise cum feedback stuff, that might work in a live context, but not on a home stereo. (FdW) Just for the record the CD features neither guitars nor radio broadcasts -rk
