    Artist History
"mjm - fusion" is an instrumental project intended to create interesting, instrumental works. In short - sound painting. The goal is to create recordings that evoke rich imagery, are interesting, and most of all, fun. I hope you enjoy listening to these as much as I have enjoyed creating them. Bio: Mike initially put down roots in garage and basement bands in Illinois (south of Chicago) then played the small town college circuit in Winona, Minnesota where he also studied classical guitar and jazz improvisation. The name "fusion" of course describes this merging of musical styles, ideas and influences. He also spent time gigging in bands with names like: Torpedo Pie, Reel 2 Real and Wow (a threesome that played the Chicago/Northern Indiana circuit). Recently he's been working on solo projects (in St. Louis) and composing and recording in two somewhat separate musical spaces: instrumental tunes and straight ahead rock/blues songs. He finds an interesting and rewarding duality in composing both instrumental music and tunes with lyrics. The two processes of composing are very different, yet one process compliments and benefits the other. Focusing on instrumental music lately has really opened things up for him creatively: " ...it frees the heart and mind from worldly subjects, political and social statements... and allows me to attend to music for music's sake. I'll be doing this forever. I am very inspired by what the internet offers to the future of music and especially for all of us musicians who do this for the pure joy of composing and performing."
