Artist description
Delilah represents a point on a broad continuum between ambient mood music, white noise, and all-out alternative rock abandon. The lyrics are impressionistic rather than narrative, relying on archetypal imagery and the logic of dreams to explore themes of artistic struggle and release, spirit, and the solace of time. |

Artist History
Kathleen Hoye began her career in Northern Ireland, touring in a Belfast-based acoustic duet during and toward the end of the 1996 cease-fire. She has since returned to the U.S., opening for relevant artists such as Paula Cole, Leon Russel, Gillian Welch, AJ Croce, and Iris DeMent. Her music, which has been alternately described as both vibrant and somber, has taken on many faces, influences, textures, and moods over the years, yet her new project, Delilah, is by far her boldest expression and grandest departure to date. |

Press Reviews
"For example, the second song "The poet underneath" comes out swinging. The vocals hit right from the beginning. Songs that burst out of thegates like that are always granted an added intensity. But here in thiscase, you have the added benefit of the rumbling dark bass line and thesparse peppery drums. The atmosphere that this creates opens the cardoor to a drive that drifts between harrowing speeds and uncomfortablelulls. The desperation is evident both in the sounds and in the storyyou sinThe restraint opening "Catbird" creates an immediate intensity. Anapproaching, inescapable doom is bound to hit at any moment. When itfinally does, it comes as a relief—the waiting is finally over.Thereafter, it’s a bombardment; there’s no time to react. The breaksdon’t even release the pressure because in them you know there’s stillmore to come. From beginning to end, this song just fucking rocks."g. Shawn Telford, The Rocket, Seattle |
