"The Poet Underneath" comes out swinging. The vocals hit right from the beginning. Songs that burst out of thegates like that are always granted an added intensity. But here in thiscase, you have the added benefit of the rumbling dark bass line and thesparse peppery drums. The atmosphere that this creates opens the cardoor to a drive that drifts between harrowing speeds and uncomfortablelulls. The desperation is evident both in the sounds and in the story itself. |
