Artist History
jfx316 started out playing in bands in 1992. Nothing ground-breaking, just playing for fun. Soon, the bands dissolved but the need the perform grew. jfx316 started out as the four track\drum machine demo "nothingman-the truth hurts ver. 3.5" (this was 1995, before Pearl Jam's "nothingman" song, by the way)Soon after, more tapes were produced. The qualitly of the music became better and better. (in my opinon) In 1997, nothingman turned into jfx316, and what started out as a four hour recording session is now turning into a live P.A.\dj setup. Bent on starting his own genre (darkcore has been used in the past, but has been dropped in recent years)jfx316 is about testing the limits of the american genre. with edgy, dark tracks like dissociation and wordless, jfx is covering a part of the dayton music scene hardly touched by anyone in the area at the time. jfx has played with 44, morphic resonance, the woodfield sweets, the dead world witch cult, temple of misery, prado, walter ego, blindspot, the puritan death squad, lava cola, the jackalopes, infinite number of sounds, smokehouse grooves to name a few. and with the upcoming CD "the ethics of human cloning",jfx is looking to put a dent in the stagnent local music scene. with the single "dissociation" and the "one man machine" EP, jfx has gone through every genre you can think off. music shouldn't be regulated. no "one style of music" that's the motto. this is the new punk rock. your music is now obsolete. things are about to get very ugly....... |

Press Reviews
"(jfx316) sounds like the soundtrack of a mescaline trip...a one-man display of electronic music know-how..." IMPACT WEEKLY(MAY 10_16)"ambient drum 'n bass, some goth/industrial influences popping upthrough out.....interesting beats and wonderful samples leading the aural onslaught...j.whittaker, the mastermind and sole member of jfx316 massages the keys and tweeks the dials and delivers a trancy, beat driven sound....""he connects to those clustered around the stage with his groovesinsted of speech....""it's music to lose youself into, that becomes a part of your environment.."MOONCHICKEN.COM "well produced and some nice remixes too..." slothe, califorina "Very Unique electronic music to the extent of remixing a metal core song. It all sounds really good and jfx316 definitly has the talent of a real musician. The piano lines are very well done...percussion sampling top notch." Kendal Zier, Edmonton Alberta Canada "JFX has got all theproduction merit of a signed artist. The drum sequences and synth always have a tone of individuality and originality and that is always good for any song. His ability to swap genres and maintain this high calibre level reflects his ability in electronic music production. The only small thing I personally think would improve JFX's music is a little bit of light and again this comes back more to personal preference as JFX does explain that he is trying to acheive a genre of Dark Core. All in all a very commendable effort and good luck in the future." Rory, Nelson |
