Artist History
The Kentucky Colonels played together from 1959 through 1966. Their record albums, and live bootleg tapes, have become some of the most sought after bluegrass recordings in history. After the group split up, the members all went on to do great things in music. Clarence White played with the legendary rock band, The Byrds, and then later reunited with Roland in the New Kentucky Colonels before his tragic death in 1973. Roland went on to play with bluegrass legends Bill Monroe and Lester Flatt as well as the New Kentucky Colonels, Country Gazzette, and now, the Nashville Bluegrass Band. Roger Bush also spent time with the Country Gazzette, Eric Weissberg and Marshall Brickman, Dillard and the Expedition, and the Greenbriar Boys. Billy Ray Lathum played with Rick Nelson, spent nearly ten years with The Dillards, played on the Ozark Opry, and also performed with Dillard and The Expedition and Roger Miller. Although all the band members continued to be musically productive throughout their careers, there remains something very special about those early Kentucky Colonel days. |
