Press Reviews
"Annie Rapid is the sort of artist that absolutely melts you with her voice. She could probably sing the phone book and you'd be mesmeized by her. Her CD, "Flood", is subtle and sparse in instrumentation, but played so well, produced and mixed, that it gives new meaning to the idea that "less is more." Annie is an engaging story teller who delivers her original and fresh lyrics with passion and conviction. Annie Rapid was born to make music. Radio programmers would be well served to embrace an artist of this caliber and quality." Lynn Carey Saylor, GuitarGirls.com, co-owner of Los Angeles based recording studio Skip Saylor Recording, where such notable artists as K.D. Lang, Santana, Boys II Men, Michael Jackson and Elton John have worked...."Her sound penetrates more than the ears, but also reaches into the very being of the listener. Rapid's most recent release, "Flood", has made quite a mark on the music industry. Her very distinct Sarah Mclachlan/James Taylor style is very soothing. Rapid is a gifted guitar player with a natural knack for connecting words and music". The Round Up Newspaper, Las Cruces, NM...."Annie Rapid's "Roses And Ash" contains 14 brilliant songs. I found myself listening to them over and over again and the more I listened the more I liked her music." The Pacifician, Stockton, CA....."Well written songs delivered in a manner that makes one want more. Great stuff." Jersey Beat, Jersey City, NJ....."Her degree in architecture has not gone to waste, as she has become quite proficient in designing a song from the ground up." Buzz Weekly, Los Angeles, CA....."In addition to great lyrics, Rapid's music has a smooth mellow soud that rolls right into your soul." The Coyote Chronicle, CA....."Like all good poets, her words occasionally ring home with the unmistakable ring of truths we've all experienced but have never been able to articulate as concisely." The Jersey Journal, Jersey City, NJ....."Her down to earth lyrics, sung with raw emotion, and the harmonic background vocals match perfectly with the folky instrumentation of the album." The Currant, Auburn, WA....."Look out Ani DiFranco there's an even more righteous babe than you. And I believe in this open aired debut from Annie Rapid. This is something you should have in your collection. Purchase this extraordinary CD from this most extraordinary woman." The South End, Detroit, MI....."The lyrics on her outstanding debut CD all describe strong emotions touching on such topics as women's issues and self discovery. The powerful lyrics easily pull the listener in." The Peguine, Youngstown, OH....."Rapid may be lumped in with al the other guitar-bearing female artists, but musically her songs are distinguishable amongst the field. "Rose And Ash" might qualify her as a member of the Lilith Fair tour but her music is anything but typical." University of Purdue Paper, IN...."The lady is apparently involved in a project with some other singes and musicians who believe in beautifully written and performed songs with a message." Jersey Beat, Jersey City, NJ....."Her words leave like all good poetry interpertation to the listener in terms of personal worlds." The Lariat, CA....."In her clear sweet voice Rapid swept those who took the time to fly with her into another realm." Ventura College Press, Ventura, CA....."Roses And Ash" is full of songs that present emotion and power to the listener. Miss Rapid has one amazing voice that has an appealing soothing quality to it. When I first playded her album I was completely swept away in her words and how they made me feel. Like I said this album is one of a kind." The Pacifican, Stockton, CA....."Rapid's music if not sung could easily be read like poetry. The music she plays is theraputic to the soul." David Landis, Staff Reporter....."Moreover Rapid utilizes complex arrangements to fill in any gaps which may be left by traditional acoustic folk arrangements. Layer after layer of guitar and vocal parts, all calculated and perfectly out of sync, give her music the richness and range that is seldom achieved without the type of high-end production usually associated with major label recording." The Californian Aggie, Davis, CA....."Annie Rapid, guitarist and singer songwriter blends the fluid sounds of open tunings with well crafted lyrics to produce her own unique and inspired brand of folk rock. Her performances have been a strong presence on the New York City music scene for several years now." Good Times Magazine, Long Island, NY....."Her music is moving and grounded, an upbeat and eloquent syntheses of such pop singers as the Indigo Girls and Dar Williams. Do not miss this concert. Annie Rapid is a name you will be hearing again very soon." The Whitman Pioneer, Walla Walla, WA |
