    Artist History
Over the past 12 years, Chuck Key has been writing, recording and performing experimental-psychedelic rock,industrial-electronic and noise compositions under the title of "sonic manipulation specialist" and "audio wrangler" in his lo-fi home studio DARKSHOVELS STUDIO23, located in Augusta Georgia. Over the years he has built his studio out of home made and store bought analog and digital recording devices that can be used to record conventional musical instruments while also manipulating pre-existing sounds into audio sculptures beyond description in text. He started his musical career as 1/2 of THEE BUDDHAJEWS, replacing the original co-founder Dean Conley alongside "Stoney" Stone, and they have been building an enormous discography as one of the oldest rock and roll bands in Augusta. Chuck also performs and records as one of "Lonesome" Buck Tillmans' DRUGSTORE COWBOYS and occasionally performs live with a local avante garde project known as THE INCIDENTAL ORCHESTRA. Chuck has produced several recordings for the artists/bands on his label, and has also done some post-production, remixing and analog to digital sound restoration for various rap, rock and punk acts in the area. Currently Chuck has just released his sample and loop heavy masterpiece CYBERCRUNK, which has exhausted his 1.3 gigabyte sample and loop collection to the point that he has no choice but to start playing with real instruments again.
