"SIT BACK AND MELT"........CHUCK KEY is a "sonic manipulation specialist" for DARKSHOVELS RECORDS in Augusta Georgia. Over the past 12 years he has built his own lo-fi home studio from analog, digital and home-made recording devices and several musical instruments.
The sounds you'll hear below are mostly from the "old days", which are "pre-digital", and over the next year we hope to have more up-to-date recordings that will better represent the sound of the all-new DARKSHOVELS studio23.
Chuck records what can best be described as "experimental psychedelic rock and roll", though recently he has been working with the manipulation of electronics, samples and loops into his latest CD release "CYBERCRUNK". Chuck can also be heard as 1/2 of the experimental rock and noise group THEE BUDDHAJEWS, as a backup musician in the raunch-and-roll-white-trash-honky-tonk-nightmare known as "Lonesome" BUCK TILLMANs' DRUGSTORE COWBOYS, and occasionally performing live with the avante garde experiment THE INCIDENTAL ORCHESTRA.
