Artist History
The Reunion started off as a blues band back in 1991. Over the years, they switched formats to a new, unique instrumental style. Playing together for almost 10 years, Cacho and Janko show the classic movements that a band has to offer. This duo acts as if they have been playing together for centuries. In 1996, they released their self-titled album. After plenty of coffee shop tours; The Reunion took a two year break. In the summer of 1998, The Reunion reunited to make the next (and much more elaborate) album, The Reunion II. With a conceptual saga of a man called Chance Tylor, plan to catch the next album some time in the 21st century. As of 2001, The Reunion now consists of a new member, John Halpin.Currently,The Reunion is in the studio recording the 3rd album called "Closure". The album will be out in the spring of 2002! |

Press Reviews
The Reunion has quietly made a name for itself since 1996, playing a kind of acoustic instrumentalism with world-music flavor. This band has outlasted others that had bigger followings but lacked an inherent passion for music. Unfortunately, after some lineup changes over the past few years, the driving force behind the Reunion, Todd Janko, has titled the latest full-length album Closure, implying perhaps this might might be a swan song.
On Closure, the Reunion follow the ambient path it mapped out in the past, but it manages to keep it fresh. There is a definite theme to the record, with titles like "Leaving" and "No Return." It's a bittersweet feel, structured yet loose, with melodic lines sailing off and then back again.
"Sleep" is a lullaby appropriate for a daydream; like the rest of the songs on Closure, it's decorative without being too New Age-y, entrancing without being repetitive. The album borrows from all kinds of influences, from Latin to Mediterranean to plain old American folk, blending with strong, distinctive melodies. The elements are evoked as well - from the breezy "Winds of the North" and the earthy "Barcelona," to the heavenly "Woman of the Sea" and the fiery "Less Time" - achieving a balance not only pleasant to the ears, but a softer alternative to the current scene.
