Artist History
Formed originally as Blind Energy when Jim Hall
and Anita Kearney came together to record a demo
at the Rising Edge Studios in Raleigh, NC. With
Brent Meeker on drums and David Ridgway on guitar,
the demo featured four songs by Jim Hall. Due to
favorable reviews, Jim and Anita decided to take
the music live on stage, and was joined by Tim
Norris on bass in January of 2001. Changing their
name to Tru Blu, they made their debut performance
at an open mic at Tir Na Nog in Raleigh January 13
2001. With the addition of Tim Norris, it gave
Tru Blu not only a seasoned musician, but a talen-
ted songwriter as well. Adding more songs to
their set list, Tru Blu's second performance was at
at the PourHouse March 17, of 2001. Utilizing the
open mic forum, Tru Blu honed their stage perform-
ance skills and continued to write more songs. In
June, they were asked to perform at the Fete De La
Musique in Carboro, giving them a chance to play
in front of a larger audience than before. They
played at Crowley's at Stonehenge in Raleigh the
following month, as well as Mar's first open mic
celebration in Raleigh. Recently, they have en-
listed the talents of David Lee Jones as drummer
and Bill McQueen on keys, and have played outside
of Raleigh for the first time, making appearances
at Rural Hall, and Wolf's Lair wine festival in
Dobson. Tru Blu continues to write more songs,
and to play whenever the chance is available.
They hope to be in the studio this summer to re-
cord another cd, and to release more songs. To
book Tru Blu, please contact either Jim Hall at

Dark Star
This is a pretty cool tune. Very ethereal. I really like the vocals; they are kind of mystical sounding. The reverb on the vocals is perfect. The overall mix is kind of dark and muted, and this keeps an audio "blanket" over the drums (drum machine?) and guitar (except the lead), but it seems in keeping with what the song is projecting. The lead guitar is short, but very fitting to the song. The melody is memorable enough to stick in your head, and that's a good thing. Overall, good job!
