Artist description
A one man act from the suburbs of Philadelphia, that likes manipulating sound into hypnotic dancable rhythms, droning walls of sound, and aural landscapes. The Skin Matrix attempts to work in attributes of all his influences, sometimes even succeeding in doing it. Or I just make noise. |

Artist History
The first band Mark was in was the extreme/rhythmic noise outfit Rule 34 when he was 16. With it's blend of breakbeats, heavy distortion, and painfully loud piercing sounds the Rule 34 demo tape shook the local metal heads out of their THC induced stupors with a hard dose of industrial aggression. The Rule 34 tape has near legendary status, and Mark still gets asked about it to this day. After Rule 34 dissapated, Joe the other member of the band moved into a more death metal/hardcore direction, while Mark moved in the direction of the couch, and stayed on that couch until 1998. The Skin Matrix started in early in 1998, and managed not to get anything done more than make CD after CD of samples until a few of his friends from the band 1/2 came and asked him for a remix of their song, he agreed. Those friends were so impressed with the track that they put it in the running to be included on the Philadelphia electronic music compilation "Submit." It made it on, and Mark proceeded to do nothing with Skin Matrix for almost a year after he joined the band Mantua Burning. Recently though, with the demise of Mantua Burning, Mark has gotten a taste for rhythmic noise again and has actually started to put songs together. |
