Artist History
Elomar's father played the accordion and did not want his son to be a musician so Elomar had to hide in the woods near his house to practice guitar. He became an Architect and in the early 70's he finally decided to take to his music professionally. He has released many albums and a handfull of Folk Opera's in his career. Sadly he is better known in Germany and Japan than in his home country of BrazilHe is happier on his goat farm than anywhere else and he is a true hillbilly intelectual. Elomar likes to quote from Tolstoy and say's that "If you want to know the world then know your own part of it for all the truths of the world are universal".For this he writes music about his home and the region around it and the history of the area.Elomar is from Vitoria da Conquista, Brazil in the harsh Sertao region. The sertao is a very hot and dry place and the life is very hard. It is the first inland area in Brazil to be settled and the culture remained fairly isolated and for that the people speak a version of 15th century portuguese. The culture is alsoreminiscent of those bygone days and the local lore is full of stories that harken back to the days of European knights, damsels and crusaders.I am a friend of the artist and I am trying to share his music with the world. I hope you will enjoy this wonderfull music. Pat Wall |
