Artist description
Dragon North is one man--me--who composes via an archaic piece of software--Midisoft Recording Session 1.10--of which for its score layout sequencing somehow seems superior to its descendants. Cakewalk is there too, but gets used very little. I took two jobs to buy my module, and have since added some meagre equipment. I am a hobbyist, so there are no career plans in music, though I suppose if something fell in my lap I would not turn it away. I compose music for me, and not anyone else, which means most of my stuff is fantasy oriented, as I live for fantasy. No I am not a 300lb scruffy comic book store owner who still lives at home. My music is orchestral in nature, and usually barbaric in sound, as well as dark, wistful, lonely, melancholy, and sometimes mysterious. |

I would hope I don't sound like anybody--at least not too much. I am still, however, defining my style. I am always trying somehting a little different. |

Artist History
I have been composing (never fomrally trained, only studying from books, and peers)since about 96 or 97, and am forever progressing. I have always done classical celtic, fantasy related music, and probably always will. It is the kind of music that to me reaches to the soul, tells tales, and creates atmosphere for one of my other hobbies, writing. |

Press Reviews
"The song does not just march along its lines, yet broods and forms a subtle pattern within a pattern as it progresses. It is not so simple to create a orchestral piece laced with any internal variance, but Darrin Smith has done it and succeeded."
