Artist description
Russian Pianist. Music critics have often noted a special quallity to OLEG BOSHNIAKOVICH'S sound, calling him an unsurpassed master of piano miniatures, the artist who makes the piano sing. "One hears his playing a human voice, not just a cantilena, as is often said about instrumentalists, but the live - - and I stress it -- the live human voice, the real bel canto. This is because the piano, in Boshiakovich's hands, comes to life." (Tatiana Voronina, "Cultura") |

Artist History
Russian pianist OLEG BOSHNIAKOVICH has always been recognized as an outstanding interpreter of piano music. For many decades he has amazed audiences bythe beauty and cantabile style of his sound, his profound perception of the world, a naturl and simple way in interpreting music. Boshniakovich represents a great Russian piano tradition that was first started by Alexander Siloti and Sergei Rachmaninoff in the nineteenth century. He maybe considered a representative of the Russian school of pianism where virtuosity is not used for its own sake but to express the idea of musical composition itself. Oleg Boshniakovich waqs born in 1920 in the old Russian town Murom. His aunt Anna Klevzova was a famous teacher of music there, and he took his first lessons from her. In 1934 he entered teh Central Music School under the Moscow Conservatory and later entered the Conservatory itself. There he studied with the eminent pianist and teacher, Konstantin Igumnov. His studies were interrupted by the outbreak of the war. In 1949 he was accepted to the post-graduate class of Heinrich Neuhaus with whom he maintained good artistic and personal relations until Neuhaus's death.Oleg Boshniakovich has long been known among and highly appreciated by Russian musicians. Press Reviews
"I value Oleg Boshniakovich very highly, as pianist and musician. His performance of any music leaves a joyful impression of musical euphony. He is unique in communicating the sound fabric of a composition, and the music is just the art of sounds..." Heinrich Neuhaus |
