Artist History
I am a 31 year-old Christian attorney who has been fascinated with hip-hop ever since Run DMC's "Hard Times" LP. Listening to that record in 7th grade created a desire in me to express myself through hip-hop. Over the next 4 years, I began collecting miscellaneous keyboards and mixers (all pretty cheap) and started making rap tapes. During the period of 1990 through 1995, I released 3 albums although I actually had prepared 2 others. The quality on those tapes was average at best and I was desiring a better sound. This year I finally gathered enough real equipment so I can record radio quality songs. As a result, I am continuing my dream of recording music. The entire album was written, performed, produced and mixed by DJ the Not So Ordinary. As for my name DJ the Not So Ordinary, here is the story of how that got started. When I was in 11th grade I went out with this popular girl in High School named Amanda Freely. I tried everything to impress her and at one point she said "Your Weird." I was quite offended and said "no I'm not." "Ok," she said, "then you are Not So Ordinary." That's how my nick-name got started. Finally, you should know that I am not actually a DJ (DJ is just my initials - David James). So I became "DJ the Not So Ordinary." |
