    Artist description
Born in Northwestern North Carolina in 1966, Spencer Martin grew until the ripe old age of 16 when his family made the big trek to Memphis Tennessee in the preverbal station wagon. Spencer has no siblings so the backseat was only filled with hopes and his guitar. Typical of a rural southern background, Spencer's early music training was in the church choir and family sing-a-longs. His talents began to emerge with his participation in band for 9 years playing alto and tenor saxophone these 9 years combined with chorus for 3 years took him to competitions throughout Tennessee. Spencer auditioned and was selected to perform in the All-West Tennessee Regional Chorus and the Tennessee All-State Chorus in 1983 and 1984. Upon graduation he was awarded a music scholarship to Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. After an eight year tour of duty in the United States Air Force, Spencer has begun pursuing his career in music by competing and winning various talent and vocal contests including the 1997 Fan Fair Karaoke Contest, held in Nashville, Tn. Spencer furthered his career by being the opening entertainment for Gary Allen, Brad Paisley, Gene Watson, Lonestar, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw and others. Spencer was also selected to perform the National Anthem at the North Carolina Motor Speedway for the AC Delco 200 Busch Series NASCAR Race in 1998, where he performed before an estimated 45,000+ people and has performed at numerous charitable events. Contracted to sing demonstration vocal tracks for Sound Source Recording Studios in Charlotte, NC, which is a well-respected provider of accompaniment tracks which are marketed and sold as Sound Choice Accompaniment Tracks. Spencer’s musical influences read like a who’s who of country music with stars such as George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Gene Watson, and Brad Paisley. Twisting a slice of blues and a sultry swing into it and you have a piece of the heart of Spencer Martin. In 1996, Spencer’s grandmother suffered a debilitating stroke that left her without the ability to speak or care for herself. Spencer was inspired to write “Grandma’s Smile” for her, which never was intended as a public release, but such high demand for the song prompted Spencer to record and release locally with great success. Spencer puts his heart and soul into every performance and stays true to himself and his roots.
