Group Members
Colin Edwards: Vocals/Guitar. Former frontman for seminal LA band Bay of Pigs, Colin writes songs that spew forth life experiences with a twisted and cynical mind.
Gary Ferguson: Drums. Gary has played with everyone from Larry Carlton, John Hiatt, Ray Charles and more, providing the solid rhythm that drives the band.
Rick Cox: Guitar. Rick's experimental guitar sounds have been heard on recordings by Ry Cooder, Jon Hassell, and several movie soundtracks like Shawshank Redemption and Lost Boys. Rick's stylings are unique and edgey.
Chas Smith: Pedal Steel Guitar/Original Instruments. Inventor/Composer Chas has performed with Joe Strummer, Harold Budd and many more and adds texture and ambiance to the Tack sound.
Eric Havrilesky: Bass. Eric brings highly evolved and pulsating bass tones into the tack mix to make for a solid backbone to this extrodinary composite of talent.

Press Reviews
Flipside: What a wonderfully engineered CD! Holy shit. Give the engineer some props in the liner notes next time guys, what a phat sound. Even if you aren't a dorky audiophile like me you will get off on the bass licks, which are clean and tight, and the drums, which were captured very well, and this is important because the rhythym section is really worth hearing (a bonus!). I was sent back in my mind to the days of listening to Fields of the Nephilm and the Comsat Angels (C.S. Angels) but I was left with a modern feel. This ain't no retro band, no way. Artfully placed "random" noises, backmasking, there is a lot going on but it isn't cluttered sounding at all. "Wood," "Weezer," and "Dead Man in the Car" are good tracks and so is "Circle of Fists" and "Sharon Cut Her Wrist." I think you owe it to yourself to get this CD so you have something to out hipster your neighbors; next tome the try to pull that cooler-than-thou shit on you. Get your hands on this.
Reverb: Colin Edward's vocals and guitars are satelite worthy. Rick Cox's guitars co-pilot the attack. Gary Ferguson's drums are fresh in battle-launching power. Eric Havrilesky's bass is critical mass. favorites to terrorize India and Pakistan with are "Dead Man in the Car," "Circle of Fists," "Sharon Cut Her Wrist," "Weezer," and "Me, Myself, and I."
Stubble: Colin Edwards, founder of Bay of Pigs, is responsible for this sinister collection of apprehensive misery. Excellent Hendrixesque guitar by Rick Cox and solid rhythym section with Gary Ferguson on Drums and Eric Havrilesky on bass. Throw in Chas Smith on Steel guitar and you've got Tack, a demented cross between Floyd, Zeppelin and Primus.
MetroActive: This series of twisted tales could be the soundtrack to the life of a character in a dusty desert road thriller. Extreme danger hovers over the music, while vsisions of wife beaters and run-down trailer homes come to mind. With themes ranging from melancholy masterbation (Jack) to spending holidays with alcoholics (Thanksgiving) to dirty south-of-the-border whorehouses (Paradise) Bay of Pigs founder Colin Edwards (a.k.a Tack) presents a vulgar world fueled by the fascination of the abominable. The lines shred sanity while Tack skillfully delivers driving bass grooves, distorted vocals and dark heavy rhythyms. edwards draws two soundtrack musicians into his madness; experimental guitarist Rick Cox (Lost Boys) and Chas Smith (Flesh and Bone).
Under the Volcano: Be sure to listen to this disc, especially if you have a bong handy. Tack is a pretty weird sounding outfit which meshes spacey guitar riffs with a Funk oriented rhythym section. the end result is a vibe that paints a portrait of the Red Hot Chili Peppers impregnating My Bloody Valentine. With added elements such as static tinged vocal effects and hugh walls of feedback, one can easily imagine these guys as being totally dosed on LSD while creating this pup in the studio. Sure, there's a couple of garbage tracks here and there, but nonetheless Tack still winds up a winner at the finish line. |
