Artist History Before migrating up to Arcata California, the members grew up in the central valley in California. Kevin Kotaka, on bass was born in Hawaii, then moved to the valley. The twins, Ryan and Erin Cassidy have been performing for over fourteen years together. Both Cassidy brothers met Mark Philipp in the 3rd grade, Russman in the seventh, and Kevin Kotaka at Delta College, Stockton Ca. During the early ninteys the whole band re-located to Humboldt County in California and started school at HSU. Now the band is chillin in Humboldt and all over northern California, making more music and playing shows around California and Nevada. Something Different has recorded two full studio albums,"slackadellic" and "more slack", while comming out two live cd's as well. In 1997, Guitarist Ryan Cassidy was lucky enough to meet the Late Great Michael Hedges in The Arcata Plaza. Then Playing Slide Guitar with Ben Harper at the Mountain Aire campsite in 98. We've played some great festivals in Northern California and love to travel. Our favorite event to play is the Humboldt Hemp Fest West.
