Artist description Jonathan Gisclair is a 29year old musician born and raised in Galliano, Louisiana. Galliano is a small town about 90 miles south of New Orleans, which is divided in half by Bayou Lafourche. Jonathan is a self-taught musician who has played music in several different rock bands in South Louisiana, mainly playing drums. In 1996, Jonathan moved to Chicago to attend school and decided to bring along a second hand acoustic guitar. He taught himself to play guitar and also is in the process of learning the Cajun Accordion. Jonathan completed the recording of his first CD in 1998 and it is titled "Down South".

Artist History Down South is Jonathan’s first attempt at writing original music and his first effort recording multiple instruments. The CD consists of 10 songs written by Jonathan. The songs vary in themes, but 5 of the 10 songs are about Jonathan's culture and Bayou Lafourche. The CD was recorded in the bedroom of a classmate of Jonathans’ over several weeks.Jonathan states that he was inspired to write these songs by being away from home and the culture that he grew up with. He states that Bayou Lafourche and his family are all over the themes and ideas that these songs are based on. He presently is working on more new material and will be recording more songs as they come along.
