Artist description
The "Virtual Opera Company" are real opera singers, who live continents apart, but perform joint concerts here through the internet. The orchestral accompaniment is provided by the "Virtual Philharmonic Orchestra", Reinhold Behringer's completely computer-synthesized musical instruments. This type of collaboration is the first one in the domain of Classical Opera, making use of the internet technology to provide joint performances of artists who live and work apart from each other. Artist History
In April 2000, the "Rebel Tenor" George Everett, an opera singer here on MP3.COM, realized that the internet would enable operatic artists on different continents to work together remotely and create a realistic performance. He invited the "Virtual Philharmonic Orchestra" (Reinhold Behringer) to provide the orchestral accompaniment. Louisiane Philip, a soprano living in Monaco, joined for the very first production of an opera duet, where the singers have never met before or during the performance. After three months of tempo tweaking, E-mail, Midi & MP3 files, Giacomo Puccini's famous "Love Duet" from the opera "Tosca" was created. |
