Mercenary 6 A.K.A. Maurice K. Lawson was raised in the East Bay area of Pittsburg,Ca. Born on August 20, 1979, he was influenced by music and other musicians in his family all though he was the only one who was interested in hip hop. Though hip hop wasn't always part of the plan, Maurice was also your basic knucklehead who ran the streets with his crew while growing up through his childhood and middle school years until his mother moved him to the city of San Jose,Ca. He was always into music, considering it his first love. He started secular rapping still labeled Merc 6. 6 grew up a small guy so he was continually picked on by those bigger than him, therefore he he found himself proving himself all the time by fighting. His mother then moved to San Jose,Ca.to keep him out of trouble and to have a better chance at education. Merc 6 graduated from high school without any problems and continued to get his degree in Computer Business since it was only right since he was in the Silicon Valley. He reunited with close friend Daniel Jones who he started to attend church with. He began to see the fruits that were before him and realized the path of fighting and fornication cannot be everlasting. After being saved on October 17, 1999, he and Daniel then formed an independent label called G.I. Entertainment and released Deejay Maximus "The Cranium" which was a gospel album that sold respectably. Merc 6 was Maximus's hype man and now it was his turn to burn. He decided to release his album after backing up Maximus to give credibility to the label and to show lost people the true meaning of ministry. He had his own vision of what God's children should be...spiritual. He believes that we should concentrate on having a relationship than being religious!
