What Chu Doin Wit Chu is a song that was intially released by cHUCk dA fONk on the his second album, the "Interim Album". This is the instrumental edit of the song which appears as Part 2 on the album. Anyway - here's the info. It was a simple 4-note riff that Chuck was jamming on one nite when Colorado based funk band, Pyschodelic Zombiez, finished their practice at MH2. Guitarist Josh Larry Lopez from the Zombiez returned to the studio to cut the track, but he played the drums and bass, and cHUCk lent the rest of the rhythm track. Later that month (April 98), P-Funk All Star and George Clinton's son, Tracey Tre-Lewd Lewis came to MH2 to work on a variety of songs and he finished the rhythm track by adding some greasy guitar. cHUCk and Tre-Lewd added the vocalizations which prostelize about making it in the funk biz. You know I keep hearing these great instrumental trip out songs from Groove Armada, Fatboy Slim, Rae & Christian, etc. But you know what.. they got thousands of dollars worth of e-quipment, sequencers, etc. I did this track in 99 before the craze really hit the charts, and I'm funk guy so I did this trip-hop track organically .. straight to tape with lots of layering |
