Mezzo-Soprano Julia Schlee
has has been featured in several VocalArts Northwest performances, including 2002's Benaroya gala, where she was a featured soloist. Other recent recital appearances include a performance with Soprano Tiina Ritalahti where they sang selections from Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Julia sang Berlioz' Les nuit d'ete, and a recital of various works with Soprano Abigail Mitchell. In November 2001 Julia was heard as a soloist with the Cascade Youth Symphony singing Santuzza's Regina Coeli from Cavalliera Rusticana, other opera roles include Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, the Third Lady in the Magic Flute, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel, and the Page in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Julia has also been seen in musical theatre, performing Morgan Le Fey in Camelot, Stepmother in Into the Woods, Queen Aggravain in Once Upon a Mattress, and Adelaide in Guys & Dolls. Julia has been awarded for her talent since a young age; receiving 2nd in 2001, and 3rd in 2002 at the Washington State solo competition, at the Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside she received 1st place in 2001, and she is currently enrolled in the Vocal program at Indiana University where she is on scholarship..
