Delroy left Jamaica in the 70's bringing with him the vibes and influences of the music.
Jamaican born vocalist Delroy O'Gilvie has spent a lifetime bringing the best in roots reggae to discerning reggae fans. As a founding member and lead singer for the seminal Black Roots, he toured throughout Europe and the UK, during the 1980's, supporting acts such as UB40 and Steel Pulse. Black Roots achieved near cult status during this time, recording several albums and performing the theme music for the TV sitcom The Frontline. Since leaving Black Roots Delroy has pursued a varied solo career. Throughout the 1990's his characteristic combination of conscious lyrics, inspired by the principles of Rastafarianism, and sincere vocal style fronted Cornwall-based reggae band Orange Street. As a promoter he has kept the reggae vibe alive in the south west, staging sound systems dances around the region. As a performer he has more recently been backed by five-piece band One Drop. With some changes in personnel they are now renamed the Justice Crew, as a statement of protest against racial violence in Bristol. His commitment and dedication have been inspirational .
Delroy brings an emotional and musical intensity to his performances that is bound to inspire. This is true roots and culture at its best, from a pioneer of reggae music in Britain.
