James Gilchrist performs with his band Blue Knight in NYC's village, incorporating gypsy/Celtic folk influences and harmonizations into his music. He's been wandering about the city with a guitar on his back for about 4 years now, but he's been wrestling with his songwriting habit for at least 10. This habit, though occasionally in remission, resulted in his spending the 90's traipsing about, guitar in hand, in such diverse locales as Orlando, FL; The Outer Banks, NC; Gettysburg, PA; Detroit, MI; New Paltz, NY; and even quayside in Wickford, RI.
Inspired by a wide variety of topics (from relationships to Celtic legends), and a variety of performers (e.g. the Indigo Girls, David Gray, Loreena McKennit, and Queensr˙che), James hopes one day to write the song which will elicit that most coveted of listener responses, "Do you like Joni Mitchell? I love Joni Mitchell - let me play you some..."
His debut CD - "New Beginnings" - is available from Share
the Light Productions at www.sharethelightproductions.com. Blue Knight is currently performing in the NYC metropolitan area.
