Yes, C. T. Newmann is the "Grand Wizzzzard of Strings".
Newmann's latest CD, "Tryin' To Make A Buck" has just been released and is
available on MP3 and CD Baby by clicking on "Links" above. The disc is filled with sixteen songs of which more than half a dozen are original
contrapuntal compositions. Newmann incorporates real-life adventures, tensions, quandries, tempos,
anxieties, and celebrations in his music. Newmann described the CD this way, "It's an eclectic mix of music.
The title song, "Tryin' To Make a Buck" carries an upbeat tempo; "The Mighty Red River," a piece that was written
based on the 1997 Mid-West flooding, is "full of hope;" "Up North" describes the freedom of escaping the tensions of everyday
life in the city; and there are two love ballads on the CD, as well, Newmann said. Newmann produced, wrote all the music
and lyrics, performed the vocals, steel guitar, guitar, fiddle, banjo and Dobro for the CD. "Tryin' To Make A Buck" is one
original piece of recorded entertainment and the targetted audience for the CD is as eclectic as the music. "Tryin' To Make A Buck"
is for everybody. There's something for everyone.
Newmann has also recorded a lively Christmas CD featuring thirteen original songs. The collection of original music-lyrics, guitar, fiddle,
mandolin, banjo, is a celebratory dance of the holiday spirit like no other. "Christmas Time is Coming" is a spoof on Ole and Lena and Scandinavians
everywhere; "Snow, Snow, Why Don't You Snow?" is a seasonal song for the kids; and the mandolin solo, "A Mid-Winter's Night," was entirely improvised,
except for the main theme. "Christmas In The City" was written coming out of a music store. The inspiration just struck and Newmann thinks the song is timeless.
Newmann's hope is that "Christmas At Toman Tree Farm" will carry listeners into a genuine celebration during the holiday season. The CD can
be purchased from MP3 and CD Baby by clicking on the "Links" above.
