In light of the recent growing popularity of bluegrass music started by the movie "O Brother Where Art Thou", recognition is starting to come to the bands that have been keeping the bluegrass flame alive in Boston for many years. Chief among them is Adam Dewey and Crazy Creek. This traditional, roots-oriented bluegrass band has been performing on the Boston music scene since 1993.
Combining the influences of Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs and Boston's own Joe Val with their own musical sensibilities, the band has developed a sound that pays homage to tradition, breaks new ground and is, without doubt, their own. This deep-grooved sound is evident on their self-titled recording and in an energetic performing style that has entertained festival audiences in Canada and Europe as well as throughout the Northeast.
With their powerful trio vocals, their repertoire of gospel quartets featuring Scruggs-style guitar and their driving instrumental styles, Crazy Creek has developed a reputation as one of the top bluegrass outfits in New England.
