I guess I could try and offer a flowery description of this song - maybe call it an alterna-folk passionate plea for intimacy or something; but when you boil it down, St. Francis is basically a love song. Again, it's just vocals and one guitar. To me the song has a kind of U2-ish vibe - it's real minimalistic and ethereal (or at least that's what we were going for). It's one of my favorite songs to sing - I always get lost in it and find myself floating away, and I usually don't want it to end. Hopefully you won't either. | MP3.com CD: "More Music" - buy it!

My Son is a melancholy quasi-folk song (hey...I think I just invented a new MP3 genre). The instrumentation is lead vocal and one guitar. It's a two capo deal - I use a capo on the 6th fret for most of the song, hence the high register chord voicings. At the end of the songs I move down to a capo on the first fret, creating more of a deep and intense mood (I hope). | MP3.com CD: "More Music" - buy it!

"Mirror" is a folk-ballad, sort of in the James Taylor/David Wilcox vein. Vocally, the song is in the baritone register and has a sort of breathy, somber quality on the recording. It features finger style guitar accompaniment using two capos and a pretty insane alternate tuning (thanks to some serious experimentation and a LOT of free time). | MP3.com CD: "More Music" - buy it!
