Jeremy Borum
Composer
MP3.com has changed their policy and will not allow me more than threes songs on my page now. This site used to be full of examples of my compositions and performances, but it is no longer as useful. None the less, here are three of my compositions.
My homepage, a site dedicated to my Sept 11 memorial song and the promotion of other similar songs, can be found at jborum.crosswinds.net

This is a solo piano piece I used to explore compositional techniques I had not previously used. The performance was by Flora Chan during concert of 21st century piano music held at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia on October 22, 2001. It is not a perfect performance but it was the first public performance the piece received. |

This is a song written in honor of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Written on Sept 11 hours after the attacks, it is my reaction to the events from across the world where I felt trapped, far away from home, and unable to help. |

Come Dance With Me is an exercise in vocal flexibility. With fast words and phrases and pleasantly unpredictable melodic lines and chords, it is a formidable achievement to perform. It is intended to be performed a cappella. The piece looks back to the bebop era of vocal jazz and pays tribute to Miles Davis, whose recording of "So What" on "Kind of Blue" inspired the introduction. It is technically demanding, rhythmically exciting, and it tells a story which allows the chorus to be slightly re-interpreted each time it is sung. There are currently two groups in the process of learning the piece, but neither is prepared to make a recording yet. This is a piano reduction of the vocal parts.
