| Vocal ballad in the style of a standard, served up early sixties style. I always loved Matt Monro's voice. This is the way I would have done one of those sixties James Bond themes. One of these days I'm going to write a whole album in this style. I may not be a Sinatra or Billy Holiday, but I enjoy listening to the standards. They're like a time machine, a massage, a fine wine, and Cuban cigar all rolled into one.

I remember moving to Florida in the summer of 1969. Orlando was beautiful then. Slower, and less crowded. I had never seen so many flamingos. Plastic pink flamingos and backyard swimming pools. I can still smell the chlorine and feel the burn in my eyes. The smell of coconut suntan oil and overdone flesh, geraniums, and the feel of sand between my toes. |

| Instrumental. Upbeat sports theme with a Latin feel. Herb Alpert/Mike Post influences. Wrote this as an exercise in background music for a video game. It sounded like the intro for a sports talk show. The bit in the middle is My Country Tis of Thee - not God Save the Queen.
I loved Herb Alpert's music as a kid. I just asked one evening - what if he did a baseball theme? And no baseball theme is complete without the organ thing going on somewhere.

| Instrumental. I remember riding in our family's Austin Mini, 1962, through Scotland. Even as a young child, I was captivated by Scotland. The lakes and cobblestone streets, and parades of men playing their bagpipes. Then one day I found a poem, which inspired this piece.
Written by William Stewart, Drummellan Street, Maybole in the year 1907. The last stanza of his beautiful poem reads..."Farewell, my native hills, farewell,
I'll still remain beneath thy spell,
Though I should lie on a foreign shore,
And hear Niagara's thunderous roar,
Each wooded vale and hillside steep,
Is planted in my memory deep." If we inherit memories, these are surely mine.
This piece is soundtrack music for my life. I work from strong visual images and try to capture those images and their memories with music. One of these days I'll get to do this for a film. |

I think that's something most of us haved dreamed about at one time or another. Oh, to have just a few more minutes to say how much we care. You never know how much you're going to miss someone until they are gone. |

| Classical Instrumental. Movement One from "The Monuments: A Suite in Three Movements" My first trip to Pennsylvania I visited Valley Forge. That early September morning was foggy and slightly damp.
Being a student of history, especially the Revolution, I stood and tried to imagine what it would have been like for Washington. It didn't take long - because in a flash of a moment I saw him with his troops through the fog. I could hear the one single fife calling me to join the battle...
Walking along the Mall and standing in front of the Washington Monument, that same theme - the fife - seemed to call to me again. Almost as if Washington himself was humming a tune, and all I was doing was taking notes.
This country is rich with history - for those who have the heart and mind to listen to the wisdom of the spirits who would teach it. |

| Classical Instrumental. Movement Three from "The Monuments: A Suite in Three Movements." My father was honored to have been a US Marine. He saw his contributions to the war efforts in China and South Korea as his crowning achievement in life. When I was a child, I would listen impatiently to him telling war stories - often in complete disbelief of anything he had to say. I would not believe and was too rebellious to even think of trying to relate to my father. Then, one day, a miracle happened. I was a senior in college. He was in church one Sunday, and the guest choir was a group of South Korean school children. I sat and listened to them sing, and then saw my father's face from a distance. Dad had tears streaming down his face. Those children could stand and sing because of the strength, the courage, and sacrifices of men like my father. I was so very proud of him that day. He was a hero after all. |
