"Addiction" is told from the perspective of the addict, always coming up with excuses to keep using and searching for the strength to stop. The opening riff and chorus were originally conceived by Norm in one night. The idea came in a day-dream on a late night caffeine laden evening. About a month later, Rich was playing with another idea, the bridge, which was to be a completely different song. The words themselves became the glue to fit the two pieces together. The words were inspired by a friend of Norm's, and were also written in a single night on a brown bag at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. |
