Hi everybody! You have found the home of Altar Native. Altar Native is Mark Newport (fiddle) and David Camlin (guitar). We make music with a Cumbrian flavour, and we'll use anything Cumbrian to make music from. You'll find music here made from: water splashes, livestock, traditional Cumbrian tunes, local farmers, slate, trees, bits of bicycles etc. as well as a whole host of contemporary beats, bleeps, squeals and squawks. The music on here varies from very mellow to very frantic, with all points in between. If you like surprises, and non-mainstream music, you're in the right place.

A dark slip-jig with dropped beats, written for a ghost in David's house, and eerily lamenting the disappearance of the farming way of life in Cumbria, through echoes of the old traditional Cumbrian shepherd's 'tally' counting: 'yan-tyan-tetherer ...'

A hefty slice of slow-burning chugging groovy traditional Cumbrian fiddle tune, always a 'live' favourite. It's got a real groove to it, and it builds up oh so slowly!

Natural sounds from the Loweswater valley (splashes, tress, slates, animals) are used as percussive samples to form the backbone of this driving fiddle workout.
