Perfect power ballad. Time under 3 1/2 minutes. Simple and to the point.
This was one of the first songs Van (my writing partner) and I wrote together. While driving home from a gig, I wrote the lyrics to a melody Van recorded to tape earlier that day. I was on the highway without the proper writing tools. With one hand on the wheel, and an eye on the road,
I used my lap (right upper leg) to jot down my lyrical ideas. I wrote them down on a crumpled napkin that had been stashed in my glove compartment, and I used my walnut brown
eye pencil as my pen. I consider this song to be a 'star light, star bright' Disney
kind of tune. Canadian artist Danielle
St. Pierre also recorded this song on her album she released this year (2001).

I was making the correlation between Chicago winters and a cold person (as in emotionless). Don't get me wrong, I love Chicago but I wouldn't mind hibernating through the last quarter of the year. This is a victory song written after leaving an unhealthy relationship. There is a definite Gloria Gainer, "I Will Survive" attitude going on here. Music Description: Upbeat acoustic with real drums. |
