Perfect power ballad. Time under 3 1/2 minutes. Simple and to the point. This was one of the first songs Van (my writing partner) and I wrote together. While driving home from a gig, I wrote the lyrics to a melody Van recorded to tape earlier that day. I was on the highway without the proper writing tools. With one hand on the wheel, and an eye on the road, I used my lap (right upper leg) to jot down my lyrical ideas. I wrote them down on a crumpled napkin that had been stashed in my glove compartment, and I used my walnut brown eye pencil as my pen. I consider this song to be a 'star light, star bright' Disney kind of tune. Canadian artist Danielle St. Pierre also recorded this song on her album she released this year (2001).

    TELL ME IT'S RIGHT

    Tell me it's right tonight
    Don't turn away
    Tell me it's right tonight
    Don't be afraid
I'm going to love you till the end of time
    I know it's right I've realized

Come close to me, and walk into my dreams
Search inside you'll find that this is meant to be

    Tell me it's right tonight
    I'm here for you
When you find out what's really stopping you
Tell me it's right you're half way there
Close to the one who'll always care

I still believe that you're the only one for me
I won't change my mind, and I won't give up on this dream
    Tell me it's right

    SOLO

Once you give in I'm sure you'll see, Oh darlin
All that we have and all we can be Oh

    Tell me it's right, tonight
    come take my hand
    Tell me it's right, tonight
    just say you can
It doesn't matter just how long I wait
Reaching out to me don't hesitate

    Come close to me
    And walk into my dreams
    You will see in time
That we were meant to be Oh

So tell me it's right tonight
    don't turn away
    Tell me it's right tonight
    don't be afraid
I'm going to love you till the end of time
Maybe tonight's the night your mine
