The
origins of chalice stem back to the latter part of 1996 when present drummer
Adrian contacted vocalist Shiralee after seeing an ad in a music store
in the city. They found (by word of mouth) Russell who was an outstanding
violinist with an obvious natural feel for the music. The search for other
players was maintained and ads were put up it many different places. Guitarist
Sean and bassist Mark joined Chalice.
Sean had been recommended to Adrian and Shiralee and Mark was a long time
friend, who was a natural choice for the position. After Russel left the band,
ads in Adelaide
University were placed for violinists to audition, but it was the young flautist Alana,
willing to try out, that captured Shiralee and the bands ears.
