Doug & Darren formed Watts Gnu in the summer of 1989. In 1991 they moved from Cleveland to Boston, where Darren went to the School of Music at Berklee. Upon their return to Cleveland in 1994, Doug and Darren released their debut CD "Kindred Spirit." They had nominal success with the CD, getting national airplay on Jazz and Rock programs on NPR, Commercial, and college radio.
Watts Gnu has received National recognition by placing as finalists in the Pizza hut/Spin Magazine "New Sounds For Original Music" competition, and semi-finalists in Boston's first "Acoustic Underground" Competition.
Doug and Darren reunite on occasion to perform together... some of Doug's new material, and an occasional Watts Gnu song.
Darren currently backs up Gary Lewis & The Playboys, while Doug tours nationally at clubs and Colleges.
