Just to Smell the Sugar2/25/03 S no S is sleeping. Brandon is in Shitting Glitter. Don't laugh...it's just one of those things that happens in life.
Prior to the joining Shitting Glitter Brandon was in the process of an S no S e.p. entitled "the recreation". An Interview was conducted with Alandra Flitch of "Rik Saw" Magazine just prior to said magazines untimely decomposition. Part of the interview follows below: Alandra: What is "the recreation" all about? Brandon: It's a throw back to the old S no S work method. On "may april" i took time to make sure that i was playing the right notes in the right order and things of that nature, and thats an interesting way to make music, it just also happens to be hard. so with "the recreation" i am going back to the fly by the seat of my pants crazyness. one take wonder stuff. A: How many songs are there? B: Recorded there are around 8. there are alot of written unfinished snippets also. A: So your involved with local legends Shitting Glitter, what are you doing with them and how is it you know them? B: I've known the keyboard player since as far back as i can remember. he was in my first two bands. S.G. is in a period of change, I have offered my services as a guitar player in whatever capacity they need me. I love their music and i'll do anything for them. A: How will your involvement with shittin glitter effect S no S? B: It's hard to say. it could bring it to a dead stop, but i don't think i'll ever stop writing songs. I really thought S no S was done after "These Things". it just kept going because I didn't have other musicians around. Is that the question? A: Might as well be. Why did you think it was done after "these things"? B: I finished that record just before i met Shitting Glitter. I met them when i was on vacation to see Devin, the keyboard player. I almost extended that vacation and moved to L.A. again to play bass for their original line-up. So I had already gone through that moment where I knew I would give it up to play in the right band. I love to fuck around in a home studio, but a real band is so much more fun. And i was ready to get back to L.A. and go crazy again. A: So whats going to happen with "the recreation"? B: It will see a very limited release, much in the form it is now. I need to mix some stuff and record a few more parts. Also underfunded (S no S's vanity label - ed.) needs to step up and fix my Computer. A: When will that be and how limited is the release? B: (shrugs) VERY. A: Any other projects? B: Yeah, i've produced a song called "Section 8" for Eddie Robinson (drummer for S.G. - Ed.). Also in the producer roll i am working on Shitting Glitters next EP. I'm also doing a project with the working title "thrift store peacocks", but it's been rather slow going. A: What's going on with the Shitting Glitter ep? B: It's in the early stages right now. It's single for the song "Makes Sense". It's a great tune. i'm very excited about it because one of the b-sides is a song we are working on now, a new one called "High and Tight". it's the first song i have helped write on. The disc may also contain "Grady" or "Ariana" as well as alternate versions and remixes. A: Where are you recording it? B: In "free sound" which is sort of a catch all term for any studio equipment at my disposal. so i guess i should say in my apartment. More of the interview may be avaliable if Rik Saw's legal problems are brought to an end.
