Shauna Rolston was selected by Musical America among the "1986 Young Artist to Watch". The Musicis Foundation award gave the young cellist début recitals in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. having performed extensively in her native Canada and on the Croisière Pacquet Festival-at-Sea, she has concertized throughout the world, performing in recitals and with orchestras in cities as diverse as London, New York, Amsterdam, and Budapest, as well as in Asia, and Italy.
Menahem Pressler, Distinguished Professor at Indiana University, is one of the world's best known chamber music artists. He was born in Germany and received most of his musical education in Israel. The original pianist of the Beaux Arts Trio, he has made more than 50 recordings over the past 30 years. Among the Beaux Art's trio's many awards are the Prix Mondial du Disque de Montreaux and the Gramophone Magazine Chamber Music Award.

Although not polyphonic, the motoric second movement corresponds in spirit to the Baroque fugal allegro, while the third movement, Recitativo-Fantasia, creates an air of improvisation that is operatic in character. |

The canonic finale with its almost perfect balance between the two instruments is in the form of an old French rondeau. As the movement proceeds, it gathers up material from the first and third movements and finally culminated in a complete and magnificent fulfillment. |
