R. Guilford Butts
Singer/Songwriter and Multi-instrumentalist.
Rob combines an eclectic mix of sounds and styles into a soulful Smooth Jazz sound, from a decidedly Christian perspective.
Traditional hymns and spirituals take on new life as Rob infuses songs like "Amazing Grace" and "Go Tell It On The Mountain" with African/ Latin rhythms and modern harmonies.
The original compositions include Jazz instrumentals and Adult Contemporary Christian songs.
Rob performs all vocals and instruments.
"I can do nothing without God. I thank Him for allowing me to be a musical ambassador for Him".-Rob
Thanks for Listening!.

The writer of this song (John Newton) was the captain of a slave ship. He is said to have heard the melody eminating from the slave holds below decks. Later in his life, he became a Christian pastor, and a staunch Abolitionist. It was at this time that he wrote many hymns, including "Amazing Grace".
The rhythm track is based on African style ACID loops, so it has a nice beat that suggests African or World Music. |
