"OTRO TU" means "ANOTHER YOU" in Spanish. If you listen carefully to the changes during the "B" section of this tune, you will know why. A BURNING LATIN LAZZ BLOWOUT! |

Top 10 Acid Jazz Chart (AGAIN!) 6/22/02. Inspired by "Bitches Brew" era Miles Davis. I wanted to create a vehicle that would carry the players towards freedom and exploration, kind of like the opposite of a slave ship. M. B. really shines on percussion on this cut, as does BOBBY RODRIGUEZ on trumpet. |

Back up to #4 on the BEBOP Charts, August 2003!: Since its introduction to mp3.com in 2000 this song has constantly been in the top of the charts. This song really features Billy Higgins, the Grand Master of jazz drumming. If you don't know Billy, then you never listened to early Herbie Hancock or Ornette Coleman- Billy is the most recorded living jazz drummer today! Swinging jazz quintet in the 'Jazz Messengers" style. I wrote this in honor of my 40th birthday party, when I had Bobby Matos' Afro Cuban Jazz band playing at a party in a loft in downtown LA - man it was fun! Let's do it again! |
