Male R&B singers are few and far between. That's
why Rufus Proffit, who sounds like the love child of
Al Green and Luther Vandross, should be embraced.
Proffit wrote all of the lyrics for the songs on his
album, Tell Me (Flashflood). The hot and fresh baker's
dozen tunes are an amalgamation of uplifting dance-
friendly tracks--such as "Luckiest Survivor", "Positive"
"Can't Confess 2 Nothin" "Plaything", "Time 2 Jam"
"I Love U More", and "What Makes Your Body Move?" and steamy
soul numbers, including "Melting Inside (of you)" and
"Think Quick" which recall the genre's godfathers
Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway.
